Recombining the elements of the onmyoji's garments into a modern form.
Onto the base silhouette of a traditional hakama, we've incorporated pockets and cords derived from cargo pants — along with the traditional Japanese pattern as side lines, this is a design that meshes together elements of both Japanese and Western. Evoking the appearance of the onmyoji's work clothes (kariginu), these pants stand in keeping with the spirit of a work wardrobe.
On the printed pattern, the letter X is seamlessly incorporated into the traditional elements of the pattern. Torii gates, ripples on the water, and yin-yang taiji diagrams — motifs reminiscent of the Heian period, floating atop the background of a haze (egasumi) pattern. With both cherry blossoms and autumn leaves present out-of-season, this design expresses a concept that transcends the fabric of spacetime.
